Kentucky Wade

Wade opened a factory in the USA in May 1995. It was known as Wade Ceramic Fibers and was located in Winchester, Kentucky.

To mark the opening, the company produced a collectable flagon with a wild turkey motif on it. It was named the Wild Turkey Flagon because it contained bourbon liquor distilled by the company Austin Nichols which was known as Wild Turkey Bourbon (see picture) The Austin Nichols distillery was situated above the Kentucky River in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The Austin Nichols company sold out to Campari in 2009.

Amongst other things, Wade Ceramic Fibers produced ceramic artificial coals for gas fires, ceramic nose cones and tiles for the space industry.

The facility also produced household and contract items, some of which can be seen in the picture below.

The factory was short lived and there does not seem to be a lot of information regarding the products produced. The facility closed down in the early years of this century and thus another phase in the fascinating history of Wade came to an end.
